WhatsApp lets you control who sees your last seen, profile photo, about, and read receipts. Reviewing these settings takes a few minutes and limits what others can see.

Last seen and online: choose Everyone, My contacts, or Nobody.
Profile photo and About: the same three options apply.
Read receipts: turn them off if you do not want others to know when you have read their messages. Note that you will also stop seeing receipts from others.
Groups: decide who can add you to groups.
